Headaches and Migraines
Hey, Gretna. It's Dr. Brad Meylor with Meylor Family Chiropractic and I'm here today to talk to you about headaches and migraines, specifically, cervicogenic headaches or migraines.
The latest research shows that up to 80% of all headaches and migraines are actually cervicogenic in nature. What does cervicogenic mean? It just means originating in the cervical spine or the neck.
According to the American Migraine Foundation: cervicogenic headaches are referred pain that's perceived in the head, but that the actual source is the neck. In the case of cervicogenic headache, the cause is a disorder in the cervical spine and its components, the bone, disc and or soft tissue. They go on to state that people with cervicogenic headaches often have reduced range of motion in the neck and worsening of their headache with certain movements. Headaches are oftentimes one-sided. They may begin in the back or the neck and radiate up to the eye and different areas.
Long story short, one of my favorite things to treat are headaches and migraines. I've been doing this for almost a decade and there isn't a day that goes by when someone comes in with headaches and migraines. And one of the most rewarding things that we do in our office is helping patients with these, whether we completely get them to go away, or we drastically reduce the frequency and the intensity of these headaches. If you or anyone else you know needs help with headaches or migraines, have them come to our office. We will analyze their spine with specific digital x-ray’s and will be able to determine if it is a chiropractic case. We'll let them know what we can do to correct it, how long it'll take and answer any questions they might have.
We appreciate you and as always have an awesome day. Thank you.
